About CCWHC
The Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Centre (CCWHC) is an organization encompassing Canada's veterinary colleges.
Its purpose is to apply the veterinary medical sciences to wildlife conservation and management in Canada. The organization
is also dedicated to developing and using knowledge of wildlife health and disease to improve human health and the health of
domestic animals. The CCWHC coordinates Canada's national wildlife health surveillance program and provides educational programs,
information, and consultation to both government and non-government agencies, as well as to the public. The CCWHC also coordinates
targeted surveillance programs of wildlife diseases, such as West Nile Virus, Avian Influenza Virus, and Chronic Wasting Disease.
In 2007 the CCWHC was designated an OIE (World Organization for Animal Health) Collaborating Centre dedicated to wildlife disease
surveillance and monitoring, epidemiology and management.
