Stéphane Lair is the Regional Director for Quebec and associate professor at the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the Université de Montréal.
After completing his veterinary degree he worked as a clinical veterinarian for a wildlife rehabilitation center. Following this, he completed a three years residency in Wildlife Pathology at the CCWHC - Quebec Regional Center, and then a DVSc in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine and Pathology offered jointly by the University of Guelph and the Toronto Zoo.
He became a Diplomate of the American College of Zoological Medicine in 1999. After working a few years as a campus veterinarian for the University of British Colombia in Vancouver, he was enrolled as a faculty by the Université of Montréal in 2001.
Over the years, he has developed an expertise in wildlife pathology and medicine. His research interests include fish and marine mammal health and diseases, ecology of pathogens, and anaesthesia and pain management in wildlife.
